The Alzheimer's Association and the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) are proud to support the bipartisan NAPA Reauthorization Act and the Alzheimer's Accountability and Investment Act. Introduced in Congress last week, these bills will renew and strengthen our nation's commitment to addressing Alzheimer's and other dementia.

The Alzheimer's Association and AIM worked with our advocates and congressional champions to develop and build bipartisan support for the National Alzheimer's Project Act (NAPA), which was signed into law in 2011, resulting in the first National Plan to Address Alzheimer's Disease with its first goal of preventing and effectively treating Alzheimer's disease. Thanks to NAPA, the National Plan, our advocates and bipartisan congressional champions, Alzheimer's research funding has seen a more than seven-fold increase since its passage. But we know there is more work to be done.

The NAPA Reauthorization Act will extend NAPA to build on the progress made in research, clinical and long-term care, and public awareness over the last decade and ensure that the nation continues to prioritize addressing Alzheimer's and all other dementia. The Alzheimer's Accountability and Investment Act would continue the requirement for NIH to ensure Congress hears directly from scientists each year on how much research funding is needed to fully pursue scientific opportunities needed to prevent and effectively treat Alzheimer's.

We are proud to partner with bipartisan congressional champions on these bills that will keep up the fight against Alzheimer's and other dementia.

Help us grow early momentum for these critical bills and ask your member to cosponsor the NAPA Reauthorization Act and the Alzheimer's Accountability and Investment Act.
