Congress returns to session this week, kicking off a sprint to the finish line to wrap up their legislative work before the 118th Congress comes to a close. During these busy last few weeks, the Senate has the opportunity to support the Alzheimer’s community by passing the bipartisan BOLD Reauthorization Act

Since the original Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act passed in 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided funding to state, local and tribal public health departments to help them implement effective dementia interventions such as reducing risk, increasing early detection and diagnosis, and supporting the needs of caregivers. To continue this critical public health work, Congress must reauthorize the bipartisan BOLD Reauthorization Act before it’s too late.

Earlier this year, thanks to the dedication of AIM’s nationwide network of advocates and the leadership of bipartisan congressional champions, this critical legislation has advanced through the legislative process with significant support from both sides of the aisle. Both the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) passed it out of committee with overwhelming support, and thanks to their ongoing work and the support of House leadership, the BOLD Reauthorization Act passed the House unanimously in September.

We’ve come so far, but we can’t stop now! Now is the time, before the 118th Congress comes to a close and time runs out on the legislative clock, for the Senate to swiftly pass the BOLD Reauthorization Act and send it to the president’s desk to be signed into law.

Take action and urge your senator to stand up for the Alzheimer’s community by supporting the BOLD Reauthorization Act today.
