Vice President of Advocacy, AIM

Over the last few years the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) has begun to drive substantial changes in the way Washington acts on Alzheimer's disease. AIM continues to work with Congress to increase Alzheimer's research funding, improve care and strengthen support. And, in the 2016 election, AIM and its advocates made Alzheimer's a significant election issue. For the first time in our nation's history presidential candidates announced campaign proposals to fight this devastating disease and several even ran political advertisements on the issue. None of this could have happened without support from AIM members, but there simply aren't enough AIM members to take us where we need to be.

With broader awareness and support, AIM could engage with many more champions across the country. And while our numbers are growing, there are some states where we're unrepresented. Imagine what we could accomplish if every AIM member persuaded 10 friends and colleagues to join!

That's why I'm asking you to do just that. Multiply your impact by taking the Power of Ten Challenge -- a commitment to recruit at least 10 people to join you as AIM members. Your efforts to grow AIM will have an impact far beyond the dollars raised, so we're eager to reward challenge participants with recognition, discounts and special benefits at events like the Alzheimer's Association International Conference and our recent Alzheimer's Association Advocacy Forum.

Is it possible? Yes! As we worked with AIM super-volunteers to develop this program many were able to recruit 10 new AIM members faster than they imagined. One of your fellow AIM members accomplished the Power of Ten Challenge in a single afternoon!

For full details, check out the AIM Power of Ten Challenge Kit, which provides the tools and tips you need to reach out and follow-up effectively. The kit also contains instructions on finding your personal referral link and code to get credit for friends who sign up.

The most effective strategy is to simply ask your friends, family, and colleagues to join you in this fight. The AIM Power of Ten Challenge Kit makes this easy with a sample email, social media posts and talking points to help you get started.

Thank you again for being engaged in AIM and for making its growth a priority. It's making a big difference! In just five years, our efforts have led to: a more than doubling of Alzheimer's research funding at the NIH; the passage of the Alzheimer's Accountability Act; and Medicare paying for care planning for people living with Alzheimer's dementia. But we still have more work to do. Every contribution, even just $20 each from 10 of your friends, can make a real difference in what AIM can achieve. Will you step up and take the AIM Power of Ten Challenge?
